Super Smash Bros Brawl
The all time favorite Nintendo game is back in its third installment. After the huge success of the first two Super Smash Bros. Brawl games, this one picks up from where they left, and adds more fun, characters, zing and style to the game. There are more features, more moves, more unlockables and the game is highly accessible from the start.
The game is actually a collection of all the characters that exist in the Nintendo universe and pits them against each other in 2D, Street Fighter style fights. A multiplayer, highly addictive game, its latest edition consists of 3 playable characters, out of which 14 need to be unlocked. This is the first Brawl game which has brought characters from outside the Nintendo universe, like Solid Snake and Sonic the Hedgehog. Each character has its own fighting style and moves clearly defined.
The magic of the game lies in the simplicity of the controls and their effectiveness. A simple 2 button game, it can produce a variety of moves based on the movement of the stick and the usage of the buttons, namely normal and special attack buttons. It supports up to four players at a time, with battles ranging in video game levels. Your main aim is to knock out enemies out of the arena, by using the combo attacks which can be delivered through the various combinations of the action buttons. A big plus for the game is that it offers a fair amount of depth for a classic 2D fighting game.
One of the above is the balanced strengths and weaknesses of each character. For successfully winning a fight, you require apt usage of your strengths and the opponent's weaknesses. Even the level design can be vital in deciding the correct move along with the timing. It just boils down to when, how, which and where for the attack strategy.
Apart from the battle, another crucial thing is the powerups that spawn across the level. They can enhance your attack capabilities or help your defensive powers, all for the one who reaches these power-ups first. All these power-ups are based on the various power-ups for the characters from their respective games, like the big mushroom from Mario.
A big thumbs-up goes to the customizability of the game, for you can customize anything to everything inside the game. You can customize the characters, their powers, levels, rules and near about everything, giving you complete control over the game. This gives the game an edge over other multiplayer games available. You can even have matches between teams, either all at once or 1 by 1 or two by two. You are also allowed to save the complete game replay and view it again and again. You can even take a screenshot and post it online, much to the envy of your opponent.
As the last word, this game is the best Super Smash Brawl till date and you surely don't want to miss this.
